I am going to answer your question by saying that it is a teaching that goes against the truth of biblical revelation or a false teaching. The word heresy became most known when the Roman Catholic Church decided what was was right and what was wrong, or really what they thought was right or wrong. Heresy could also mean any departure from Christian orthodoxy which is a teaching, doctrine or practice that goes beyond the apostles teachings.
